Mary, you electrified the entire auto industry, you led, and it matters

Hahaha. Realistically, GM has the Hummer, the LRYIQ, and the Bolts… plus any unreleased vehicles. Pretty clear which will qualify. Bolts will certainly qualify, I wonder if they raise the cost on them to capture some of that. Otherwise they are going to be super cheap.

Can't Tesla fund their own loans? (high interest, demand impact, etc)

Tesla Energy… it is going to open some eyes this quarter. Over the past 5 years Tesla has deployed about about 2.5 GWh of energy storage. This quarter, Lathrop is on track to deliver almost double that and it’s likely to double again over the next 18 months. These are massive, they broke...

Can't Tesla fund their own loans? (high interest, demand impact, etc)

As I said, I’m not a big buyback advocate so it’s easy to walk me back from that stance. I just don’t see Tesla becoming their own bank helping them with their mission or selling more cars.

Can't Tesla fund their own loans? (high interest, demand impact, etc)

If Tesla can afford to fund loans, I’d just as soon they let the banks fund the billions in car loans and Tesla buy back shares of their stock at this price. I’m not even a huge buyback advocate, but when you are talking about best use of capital for shareholders, I just don’t see turning...

Can't Tesla fund their own loans? (high interest, demand impact, etc)

That’s a lot of capital to tie up when they could instead use it to build a Gigafactory.

So what you’re saying is MUSK SCREWED UP THE WHOLE MARKET!

What? So if Tesla has a blow out 4th quarter it means nothing? Whatever you are smoking… keep me away from it.

A while back (pre-split) I said my budget for a Cybertruck was 69x the share price. Split adjusted that means Tesla needs to release the Cybertruck for $25,000 or I’m in trouble. Not really, it was arbitrary to being with, but shows how crazy it’s been over the past 18 months.

Didn’t mean to sound so dismissive. You are correct. I genuinely didn’t quite connect what you said with what I said originally. I think Musk has a solid chance of pulling Twitter out of the fires, but it feels like he’s dragging the rest of us through the coals to do it.

In the US it’s called an IRA. Very similar situation I think except when we retire we have crappier healthcare.

Musk likely paid very little tax on the Twitter funds because he was taxed on the gains when the options were granted to him at around $1000/ share. (When the grant happened he was taxed on the value of the shares) It’s possible he has a huge loss he can carry forward to offset future gains...

Its too bad there isn’t a “What does this have to do with anything I said?” Reaction emoji because this would be the perfect time to use it.

Tesla is not an auto company. They are a battery and technology company. Cars are their primary method of distributing batteries and artificial intelligence, but their other ventures are starting to bear fruits as well. Tesla’s Lathrop mega factory is on track to produce $12-15 billion in...

Tesla drivers say they've faced more incidents of road rage since they started driving the electric cars

There will be Dino-burners littering junkyards for decades to come they will have plenty of options and likely dirt cheap. You should be allowed to own one forever. Just have to add an exhaust collector so they can release the fumes into your home every night.

Tesla drivers say they've faced more incidents of road rage since they started driving the electric cars

Well before any of these deadlines there will be plenty of affordable EVs to choose from. By the time we get there people will wonder why there is even a ban because nobody will be buying gas cars and they will be expensive to operate.

I suspect if Tesla has a few good quarters in a row things will start to clear up. Seems like Tesla Energy is on an upswing. Lathrop looks like it might be cranking out 4.5 - 5GWh of Megachargers this quarter which is something like $3.5 billion in additional high margin revenue. Considering...

Yes. Ultimately being debt free isn’t about the best return on investment. It’s piece of mind. When we take a big financial hit due to some medical issue or ?? We don’t sweat it. When I decided to quit my job and take 6 months training for a big race and moving to Oregon it was sure nice not...

Small confession. I fibbed a bit above. Even though I have on several occasions eaten hot dogs from gas stations, I have never actually “Enjoyed them”.

There are a lot more Teslas on the used market right now. For a while they were just slamming the used market. I just did a Caravana quote and it was way less than what I’ve been offered elsewhere. I suspect I’ll get a higher offer in 10 days from Caravana as well. It’s likely pretty common.
