    Anti-EV idiocy

I want my gay married neighbors to be able to use full auto assault weapons to protect their marijuana crops and keep all the money they make from it.Anything less is not liberty. I am perplexed by right wing nuts who think we need to regulate vaginas. but the EV thing seems to have opponents...

    Anti-EV idiocy

High EV usage would be *good* for the grid in my area. Most of our power is nuke (also why it's insanely cheap). Nuclear plants can't easily ramp up and down for loads. Charging EVs at night or early morning would just take the surplus we have, because we have to make enough for the daytime...

    Anti-EV idiocy

So many morons. EVs aren't the answer to all of life's problems, but also, 95% of the "information" against them is made up billshit. This week it's been: How are you going to charge your EV when a hurricane takes the power out? As if gas stations still work with no power. BUT! Solar still...

Tesla V4 Supercharger designed station submitted for permitting - in Arizona

That was a joke. And probably an old person joke; that's from a pretty famous old TV show. We have a ways to go before we have to standardize on the outlier cases, and I'm confident we will come up with multiple good solutions. Tech gets better every day. A simple NFC reader can readily...

Tesla V4 Supercharger designed station submitted for permitting - in Arizona

Nah, actual USB and Qi chargers in public spaces. People were "skimming" the USB chargers and stealing data from Androids with low security. I've also had fun putting NFC sticker in random places to drive peoples' phones to fun stuff such as birdsarentreal.us .

Tesla V4 Supercharger designed station submitted for permitting - in Arizona

I had my card skimmed at a Sam's Club gas station of all places. Meh, whatever. It's the credit card's company's problem, not mine. Press a button in the app to declare it fraud, use a different credit card, new card is in the mail a few days later. Non event.

Lake? So you've never noticed how many travel and toy trailers go between San Diego and AZ > beyond? My reason for a CT is for toys and our travel trailer.

Tesla V4 Supercharger designed station submitted for permitting - in Arizona

A single pull-through slot seems so odd. Just a bit North of there on I-10, the new V3 has 3+ pull-through chargers.

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

Maybe you're not aware, but Tesla has a commercial package to do that. You have to ask them for it and meet some minimums (which are way too high IMO). Based on that, I don't see them trickling this down to individuals. They barely just did the commercial announcement. This seems like an...

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

Maybe, depends on your needs. I was just having this conversation with a friend and in his condo they are just having people log the in-car reports for individual bills, then they evenly split the "overage." But people are stupid and lazy, and not remembering to do it, or some can't figure out...

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

It will tell you the amount charged. As Crissa said, it won't tell you full amount consumed at the plug. I have a whole house energy monitor and the amount used is a tiny bit more than the charge EXCEPT when running HVAC in extreme weather. The AC will consume as much as 6kW while cooling the...

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

You know that the CAR is able to meter it, right? So I can't think of any use for the connector to also do it in a residential situation. There's a new commercial option for metering and charging.

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

They are common, so media ignores them, and they are also almost always less spectacular than Lithium fires. But here's a great one I caught on the Teslacam that was clearly a monster. Even then, it was out in minutes. Lithium fires can go a day or more.

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

You’ve seriously never heard of a car fire at a gas station??? And there was one on the Just Rolled In channel recently where the 12v spontaneously ignited.

Some Interesting Charging Options added to Tesla App and Wall Connector

According to a friend with a Leaf, some non-Tesla chargers near us were recently disabled due to concerns over liability. Since people can sue for just about anything, they didn't want the risk relative to the perceived reward. And honestly I've never seen a car using those. Long story short...

    No Resale on the Lightning

There's a thread on a forum that I run where the haters are trying to circle-jerk each other about how Tesla is nothing special and anyone else can make a better EV. They go NUTS when I say the words, "Tesla is ahead of everyone by many years." And yet, at least a couple times a month...
