    Police cruiser rear beams?

Saw this a while back when I was right behind a police cruiser. Notice that just to the left and right at the top of the license plate, there are what look like 2 white LED lights. Not sure what those are or how they get used. Seems like they wouldn’t be incredibly useful. Could possibly...

    LED Failure?

Driving around the other day, I saw this car: If you look closely, the LED brake light bar at the top of the rear windshield has some blank spaces. At the time it was really clear that some of the lights in the bar were not lighting up. These lights were only coming on as part of the brake...

    MEGURI 2040 Fully Autonomous Ship

Um... If we automate all the ships, won't the ones that sink be lonely if there is no captain to go down with the ship? Plus, if it is a passenger ship of some sort and there is an emergency, will there be replacement Teslabots or related AI crew to help people find, load, and deploy the...

White House to Meet with GM, Ford, others to Discuss EVs

So, my son tells me that you used a bad word. I asked, "Which word?" He tells me the "S" word. 2nd grade is so different these days from when I went to school.

GM Says Its Fuel Cell Generators Could Enable EV Fast-Charging

Nutrient wise, you might want to start learning about fungi (mushrooms especially). They grow in the dark so no solar power needed.

GM Says Its Fuel Cell Generators Could Enable EV Fast-Charging

So in a previous thread, there was talk of GM using Hydrotec to power Planes, Trains, and (not automobiles) Boats. Now they want to indirectly power automobiles and the military. I don't know how the math works on this. But in certain scenarios like areas that are only open seasonally or after...

Bloomberg CityLab: What Happened to Pickup Trucks?

Seems like making them is not illegal or the company would get prosecuted. Seems like having them may or may not be legal but unless they do a thorough inspection of your vehicle the chances of getting such a law enforced are minimal at best. So then there is the possibility of being prosecuted...

Bloomberg CityLab: What Happened to Pickup Trucks?

Just found a company that will effectively allow most vehicles to "roll coal". They call it a smoke screen system* to allow for escape during a security incident. I'd be curious how a honkin' large truck would react if a Tesla retaliated rolling coal with a smokescreen. Might end up with a road...

35 years ago, this GM prototype had a yoke, four-wheel steering, and satellite navigation

I also kinda like the graphics on this. Very retro and not nearly as informative as a modern vehicle needs. But kinda old-school cool. Reminds me of Tron though even Tron had more image density.

SOOOO MANY BUTTONSSSSSSSSS!!! So I guess the field of haptic feedback wasn't much of a thing back in 1987. Though I was studying Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the time and if I recall correctly there was some research on haptic feedback back then. 180 degrees lock-to-lock makes sense...

Is Consumer Reports on the take from Big Oil and Gas?

So, we're starting with data that is a bit old. But hey, CR is supposedly non-profit so I'll give them a bit of leeway. Maybe the display screen issue constitutes reliability. But the exterior door lights? Annoying I'm sure but reliability issue? I wonder what they would classify the issues...
