    Bought TSLA stock today

We’ve had most of a year with shutdowns, shortages, slower than expected ramps, delays, literal war, big economic news from the fed…. Twitter is white noise in this shit show. It’s just the big obvious thing to point to. Here is YTD performance of AMZN and TSLA. Did Bezos acquire a social...

    Bought TSLA stock today

2022 has been a rough year for Tesla investors. Mostly macro issues, but the Cybertruck delays along with slower than expected ramp ups for Austin and Berlin, plus the 4680 production ramp still dragging out. Remember when Tesla hinted that 4680 production would be at a run rate of 100 GWH by...

Mexico Nuevo Leon Factory rumored in the works

Cargo truck could mean a lot of different things. Usually when I hear the phrase I think of UHaul type box trucks though. That would be curious since there is nothing of the sort on Tesla’s product roadmap. It might just be referring to the Tesla Semi though. Though it wouldn’t be too hard to...

A Tesla drives into a bar...

Yeah… I missed that bit. Sometimes flat text on the page doesn’t communicate nuance well.

A Tesla drives into a bar...

Nah. If 4th quarter turns up significantly worse than projected, SEC will be on him like flies on :poop: He’s just trying to prop up Twitter.

    Merry Christmas to all

Saw this road sign while I was in Hawaii. Thought it appropriate in this thread. @firsttruck might appreciate the humor anyhow.

A Tesla drives into a bar...

He was being sarcastic. Probably should have appended a /s to his post to be clear. Humor doesn’t translate well.

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

I don’t think Tesla actually said they are adding radar to cars at all. There was a filing with the FCC, it didn’t say which cars it would be in or even if it would be in any cars. Maybe it’s semi only.

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

Tesla upgrades their FSD Hardware about once every 3-4 years. Each generation of FSD hardware also requires a massive amount of compute on the back end. So updating hardware every year doesn’t make sense. We are at the end of the current cycle so the hardware starts to feel a bit dated. HW4...

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

They have 8 cameras for Autopilot/ Sentry mode. They need to be affordable. Also, higher resolution cameras require a lot more processing power which also adds to the price. Cameras and better computers are more affordable now so HW 4 will be a big upgrade.

What We Learned From Semi Launch

Save the pricing, none of that usually comes as part of a delivery event. And pricing is usually known Before hand! Again, not usually stuff you hear at a delivery event. That said Musk has filled some in. It can tow 82k pounds legally. That is all that really matters. There is a little...

    Happy Thanksgiving to all

D’Oh My bad. For some reason my brain skipped 2020. I think I was trying to keep a COVID bubble between 2019 and 2021.

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

Just double checked. The Tesla does indeed have 2 redundant processors for FSD and one separate one in the Main Computer Unit (MCU) which you can replace independently. @firsttruck has some good details above on the various MCUs in the car. The above info I posted is on the FSD computers...

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

I’m not sure if this chip is used to run to console at all. Hmm, interesting question. I think they have 2 of these for running FSD and a third chip for the console? That’s why when your console crashes FSD is still working.

Tesla recalls 321,000 U.S. vehicles over rear light issue

It’s already fixed automatically. If you have an affected car and haven’t gotten a ticket already, you won’t. So nothing burger.

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

Another coincidence in timing here. Usually takes 6 months for a foundry to produce new products for the end market… 6 months. Sounds familiar. Lots of things confirming this middle of next year release. Originally this was going to be sourced from Samsung, the switch to TSMC means likely...

Report: Tesla to source next-gen FSD self driving chips from TSMC

Kind of looks like Tesla is having TSMC fab a chip they designed in-house similar to what Apple does. Presumably, this will be am ARM based CPU as well since most modern architectures are based on ARM. Be interesting to see a tear down with an analysis of these things. Likely massively...

Musk say's "Too much on my plate" [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS]

LOL. How is this any different from when he slept on the factory floor working on the Model 3? When he works crazy hard on something you like, he’s a great person. When he works crazy hard on something you don’t like, sociopath.
