EVs vs Floods - no, Florida, they don't explode.

The recent fire in Temple is still under investigation, and apparently there’s a witness that claims to have seen a cigarette discarded where the fire started. Regardless, a hot exhaust in tall grass during a drought will lead to an insurance claim sooner than later.

EVs vs Floods - no, Florida, they don't explode.

Two weeks ago, a grass fire at a Texas pumpkin patch destroyed over 70 cars. Astute observers will identify the background vehicle in the above photo as a Tesla Model Y. It burned just like the rest, but doesn’t seem to have contributed to the flames. Maybe EVs aren’t ticking time bombs after all?

EVs vs Floods - no, Florida, they don't explode.

I think the pro-ICE narrative being promoted is that ICE fires are minor and the result of negligence (accidents), while EV fires are spontaneous and inextinguishable.

EVs vs Floods - no, Florida, they don't explode.

FEMA days it's 170,000 fires per year (2014-2016). https://www.usfa.fema.gov/downloads/pdf/statistics/v19i2.pdf Either way, that's allot...300-500 a day! Incorrect math. No one said "1.5% ICE vehicles catch fire each year", the statistic cited by the "Transport Evolved" video was "catch fire...

But but but...the Florida CFO said there were "tons" of fires!

    Right to repair; Sustainable prioritisation

I envision a battery pack that has a small circuit attached to each cell, and it could be as simple as just a chip. It could monitor each cell individually and report back to the BMS. Maybe it could even tweak the resistance slightly to being the cell into balance. If the cell was detected as...

    Anti-EV idiocy

85.5% of new and 36.8% of used cars are financed. https://capitalcounselor.com/car-loan-statistics/ I've no idea how I'll be paying for my Cybertruck. I set aside my "Cybertruck Fund" into a brokerage account in 2019, but it's now in the red. In a downturn, you should invest more, not...

    Anti-EV idiocy

Be afraid of nuclear. Be very afraid. (I'm not saying we shouldn't use it, but we need to respect the shit out of it.) Rooftops need more solar. When the Texas gigafactory is finished, it will be a 35MW power plant!

    Anti-EV idiocy

It's a mistake to limit the term "political" to only governance. Any time humans congregate, many will act upon interests of status rather than matters of principle.

    Anti-EV idiocy

Some of the angst I hear from diehard ICEers revolves around tradition. "I bonded with my father as he taught me auto maintenance, now I won't get to teach my son the same thing ???" They're not wrong. Auto repair/modification/maintenance is a longstanding American Tradition steeped in...

The craziest I’ve heard is: EV manufacturing causes more carbon emissions than it will save. Your EV is made in China, why do you hate America They're so quiet that all pedestrians will be killed. Air pollution from EV tire wear is 1000 times worse than ICE tailpipe emissions. Our drinking...

Tesla V4 Supercharger designed station submitted for permitting - in Arizona

Imagine there are public chargers for cell phones. Would they need a separate screen? Or a coin slot? lol I think if someone is truly in an emergency situation at a public EV charger, they should be able to call a number and have an operator assist them. But having chargers with screens and...
