Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

That's what administrations are supposed to do: interpret and implement the law. There are hundreds of thousands of CCS1 cars on the roads in the US, and two more years of them before Ford and GM switch. Both are on track to make another hundred thousand onto the roads each year. So yeah...

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

No one in this thread said that. More variety in charging devices, places, companies, yes. Ports, no. -Crissa

Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

None of those things say they can't make profit on 50+K vehicles (the ones being discussed). And not making a profit is not the same as losing money. -Crissa

Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

I don't think anyone does, but they're actually putting wheels to the road with their own supply chain now so... I'm thinking the Bolt was more like Tesla with the Model S and today it's more like GM is Tesla just starting Model 3 production. Those first nine months were really bad. -Crissa

Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

Do you really think they'll sell fewer than they do now, and their margins won't improve? That's TSLAQ level doubt. -Crissa

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

Well, my first cell phone was in 2002. And it wasn't mine, it was 'ours'. I got the hand-me-down phone until my HTC Evo 3D. But we've always been tech savvy. Spouse was a design engineer for cellular test equipment when I met her and I was doing database programming. -Crissa

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

That's why I haven't had a phone with a custom charge cable since... No wait, I never did. Even my first cell phone used a standard barrel connector. Tho its charger was a cradle. -Crissa

Ford/GM/Superchargers... the ELEPHANT in the room......

This means what, though? Bolt sales outnumber each thing not Tesla. They even outnumber Model S. And they did it having to recall all of their batteries they'd sold over four years. You don't slow charge at a Supercharger. And a Lightning will take twice the time to slow charge at any given...

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

No. EU cars use CCS 2, instead of the US CCS 1. It's very similar, but since they have a three-phase Level 2 handle, it's already balanced better. It's still big, tho. Tesla swapped all their cars and chargers under the EU mandate back with Supercharger ver 2. Teslas in China use GB-T...

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

No, USB-C is much more susceptible to sand and grit than the Lightning connector. But the Lightning was maxing out the power delivery capability and would have to be phased out anyhow. My biggest peeve is that USB-C was mandated without a decent truly waterproof standard. -Crissa

Ford/GM/Superchargers... the ELEPHANT in the room......

They plan to sell 70k of them this year. There are more Bolts than practically anything but Leafs and Tesla Model 3 or Y. Not really. That's very inefficient spacing per charger. And Tesla plans to use the navigation software to manage queues, so they don't have to buy pavement. That is...

Ford/GM/Superchargers... the ELEPHANT in the room......

Well, a), if they're there for hours they'll get a huge idle fee; but b) if they're there charging for hours, there's something wrong with the charger. They only have a 65kWh nameplate pack and generally only quick-charge half of it. -Crissa

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

No, it was 200k BEVs from a manufacturer. And no, it wasn't supporting foreign-made vehicles over US ones - Ford hadn't run out yet, and the VW BEVs were made in the US. No. Spot charges for peak consumption can be much higher than residential, which is an average of costs. If they could pay...

GM Adopting NACS Tesla Charge Ports on Its Vehicles Starting 2025!

No one is, but if you count the massive number of level 2 J1772 charging points out there, Tesla chargers are still outnumbered. So we need to hope the next thing we see is solid support from the other charging networks to adopt NACS. GM currently ships the most BEVs after Tesla; GM is next in...

UPDATED PRICING (Post Inflation fears): Harley Livewire S2 Del Mar launching today at 12:40 CST

They probably cut costs by going with a 100v battery instead of a 400v architecture like in the original Livewire. That wouldn't be CCS compatible, but it would be alot cheaper. -Crissa

UPDATED PRICING (Post Inflation fears): Harley Livewire S2 Del Mar launching today at 12:40 CST

Yeah, think of it this way: Battery chargers are bulky things. The faster you want a big batter charged, the bigger the charger needs to be. You can see this on the battery tender shelf at the automotive store! So the car carries with it a nice, basic charger. Tesla's is extra nice, it can...

UPDATED PRICING (Post Inflation fears): Harley Livewire S2 Del Mar launching today at 12:40 CST

Because that's what some of us want to put in our trucks? ^-^ EV motorcycles will be short range for the forseeable future, but once you're somewhere, well, leave the truck charging and go have fun! A motorcycle uses from 50-150 kWh per mile while the truck will be from 300-500 kWh per mile...

Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

Yeah. Though, they need to make a compelling product. The Lightning is too big for my needs. The Cybertruck does a few things to make that a reasonable stretch, same for the Silverado EV, but maybe not? We'll see what comes. But this means that Tesla is no longer an island. And that's...
